Here's something to get you through the mid-January blues! The video for "January Snow" is out and it's a wonderful slice of Canadiana from Keswick, Ontario's Luke Michielsen.
Luke wrote the song based on a book by Canadian novelist Michael Ondaatje. "The book was called, In the Skin of a Lion. It's one of those novels that left me completely affected and inspired. It's a true work of art telling the history of Toronto and some parts of Northern Ontario. It follows the lives of hard labouring immigrants, lovers, artists, thieves and members of the upper class society. This song entwines all the images I clearly remember from the book into a song of similar themes."
The video, which features Luke along with friend James Schutz, was created with Adrian Underhill and Nathan Stretch from the Queen Street Commons Studio in Kitchener, ON.
This is the first video from Michielsen's latest release, the fantastic and beautiful "Oh Surround Me" (2014).
